Description
We all start off with the greatest of hope for our children. We have dreams of them succeeding in life and becoming well adjusted and happy adults with stability and eventually a family of their own. Unfortunately sometimes our children encounter barriers along the road to adulthood, such as parental separation or divorce, behavioral or mental health issues, or issues with addictions. Often when this occurs even the best families find themselves asking difficult questions such as; "If my child gets treatment and it becomes known, will this jeopardize their future?" Or, "Is this REALLY a problem or just a phase?" If you and your family find yourselves in need of answers to these or other questions, we are here to help with professional and confidential treatment for you, your family, and your child.

TRANSITIONAL FAMILY THERAPY FOR DIVORCING OR DIVORCED PARENTS

Divorce is difficult for even the most stable and well adjusted families. Fears and insecurities emerge from children who felt safe and secure prior to the divorce. Often these fears go un-addressed which frequently lead to behavioral problems either during the divorce or latent behavioral problems months or even years after the divorce. This short-term therapy is designed to address the children’s fears and needs directly before they have a chance to develop into behavioral issues. Therapy is designed around the age developmental stage the child is in.

PARENTAL ALIENATION

Parental alienation is a term frequently used when it is thought that a parent is deliberately attempting to alienate and distance a child against the other parent and/or their family. Though the end result might appear the same, that is, the alienation of a child against their parent, the underlying motivation and thought processes are frequently different. Understanding these differences is essential in helping families work through these issues.

Treatment Modalities:
Though a treatment orientation is essential for both conceptualization and treatment planning, a strict, orthodox, and rigid orientation can lead to forcing the patient to fit in to the treatment as opposed to tailoring the treatment to the very specific needs of the individual. Our practice is committed to accurately assessing the individual needs of our patients and designing the treatment around them as much as possible. Though our primary modality is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, we believe in being “Technically Eclectic,” which basically means that we are skilled at and utilize a host of treatment techniques depending on the needs of our patients. We strive to be evidence based; results focused, and maintain the strictest standards of care.

Insurance Accepted:
To maintain the confidential nature of the practice no insurance is accepted. Those who choose to put in a "out of network" claim are cautioned that they do so at the risk of having an electronic record (including diagnosis) of their treatment put into the insurance system where it might be viewed by other insurance providers and future treaters.
